Walking to work this morning, I spotted a snail! I'll admit, for some reason, I'm a tad obsessed with this wee little creature, so I actually went back during lunch to take a photo (still there!). So then I started to think about why I love snails - (escargot? not so much) but, the intricate spiral, the slug/turtle/seashell relations, the leisurely attitude. I love slow things. I'm a little slow myself sometimes.
Slowness will probably be a recurring theme in my posts. Last year I read In Praise of Slow and since then, I have been noticing how slow things tend to make me smile inside. Is there a place out there for design that is slow? I think so. Maybe it's as simple as careful details, elements that wander, extra white space in which the eyes can rest....
